Inserting / Removing the FFC (Flat Flexible Cable)

The FFC, or Flat Flexible Cable, carries power and control signals between the Controller Board and Laser Driver PCB. Both the FFC itself and the FFC Connectors are VERY fragile and can be damaged easily if not handled correctly.

FFC Cables can be bought from the Darkly Labs store here.

To preserve the warranty on the related components please only remove the FFC if instructed to do so by Darkly Labs Support.

There are two types of FFC Connector, one with and one without the ‘locking clip’. The older connector is all black, whereas the new one is brown with a black ‘locking clip’.

How to Remove the FFC:

Please use extreme caution when removing the cable and insure the cable is not tilted.

Raise the ferrite band, then lift the ‘locking clip’ to unlock the cable.

How to Insert the FFC:

Please use extreme caution when inserting the cable and insure the cable is not tilted.

Be sure the ferrite band is not the cable, then lower the ‘locking clip’ to lock the cable in place.

Old FFC:

The older style FFC Connector does not have a ‘locking clip’ and the cable is retained by friction. Please use extreme caution when inserting / removing the cable and insure the cable is not tilted.
