We all lead busy lives these days, but why should that prevent us from enjoying the beauty of nature.

The Build

This project was originally designed for 3mm material. I kept the cacti as 3mm but decided to change the pot to 6mm material for aesthetic reasons explained later on.

I wanted the plants to be very vibrant in color and ended up cutting them from green, red and yellow acrylic sheets.

With the cutting out of the way, it was time to start assembling. I always like to lay out all the pieces before beginning to make sure I have everything.

Pieces laid out and ready for assembling.

I glued the acrylic together using superglue. Since this sets very quickly, I could assemble most of each cactus very quickly and hold it together with some rubber bands while the glue dried completely.

I found the original pot design to be too small for the cactus, both physically and aesthetically. I first tried to double it in size and cut it from 6mm plywood. This ended up being too large. I finally settled on 1.5x the original size cut from 6mm plywood.

Deciding on pot size.

Once again I used superglue to assemble the pots. Once dry, I sanded them with 240 grit sandpaper to give them a clean finish.

The final part of assembly was to use a small amount of hot-glue to secure the plants into the pots.
